Question about running and ellipticals? Picturess?
I hope I spelled that right aha. Well I got an elliptical for Christmas, and we just got to set it up because I moved and we didn't want to set it up before we moved. I want to know this is it going to make my legs slimmer or very muscley? Pictures? Right now I'm about a size 1...and before you go OMG YOU ARE SO SKINNY STOP COMPLAINING, no. I'm super duper short so my legs look bigger then they really are aha. I'm not insecure or anything, muscley legs would be perfectly fine. The MAIN point of this is to just get healthier.P.s. Any ways that I CAN avoid getting teh biggish muscle legs and get the slim ones? Thanks so much

Are the calorie trackers on ellipticals and bikes accurate?
im a 14 year old girl trying to lose weightim 5'2" and 157 pounds. i have alot of muscle too from walking to and from school all year. the other day i went down to my schools free " weight room" where its basically like a gym thats free for the students.i burned 200 calories in 15 minutes doing in the 70 speed on the ellipticals.i just wanted to know if this is accurate. i really want to lose weight this summer. but its a lot more frustrating then i thought

Cross trainers/ellipticals, are they good for overall slimming?
My most problematic areas are my legs, especially my thighs, but I really want to just lose weight become slimmer in general. Are cross trainers good for this? Or do they only target one area? Or is a running machine better? Thanks

Question about ellipticals and other ways to exercise?
Okay, so I have an elliptical.it's a cheap one, but I think it gets the job done.I go on for 5 minutes and i'm sweating and i start to go slow cause it gets harder. but for 30 minutes it only goes up to 10 on intensity but that's good for me..I also have done tae bo cardio which is 40 minutes long.. It's much more " fun" that the elliptical and i'm sure i'm moving more, but I'm not sure how many calories I burn.Which do you think would be a better workout?

Are ellipticals okay for sciatica?
I have a pinched sciatic nerve. If it doesn't bother me, do you think it's safe to use an elliptical? Does sciatica go away on its own?

Why do I always see significantly more women than men using ellipticals?
Whenever I go to a gym, almost every elliptical is being used by a woman, and there are normally many vacant treadmills and bikes many of which are being used by men . I'm a 20 year old girl and I've tried ellipticals out, but I simply can't stand the motion. I think that could be because I've been competitively running since I was 12, but honestly, the elliptical feels more difficult and awkward. I know that ellipticals are technically better for you no impact , but is there any other reason? Or is this just some weird thing going on in my specific gym?

Difference of calories burned on two different ellipticals?
My old machine went and I got a new one.. there is a significant difference of calories being burned according to the monitors. On the old one it was roughly 70 mins to burn 300 calories while on this one it is roughly 40 mins to burn 300 calories. I have a hard time believing that there could be a 30 minute difference.. they are both resistance ellipticals and the newest machine being better quality. Is there a way of knowing which machine is more correct?

Are ellipticals a good workout for the calves?
I've been using a threadmill for along time. They've receintly added an elliptical machine in my apartment's gym. So I was wondering, are they a good workout for the calves? Also how much time should I use it for? Do I use the same routine I use for the threadmill? Thx. I'm looking to build up some muscle and tone my calves.

Do ellipticals, stationary bikes, and stairmasters cause toning or simply slimming?
I've been in the process of trying to lose weight. I'm not quite finished, but my lower body thighs, legs, & glutes are the size I want them to be and they're starting to get smaller, but I don't want them any smaller. I simply do not want them to jiggle anymore. I do the elliptical, stairmaster, and stationary bike for about 15 min each every other day & I was wondering if continuing to do this would cause them to get even smaller or will simply help stop the jiggle?? Can ellipticals help lose weight?
I am 5'1 and 128 pounds and I want to lose 10 pounds. I have been consuming around 1,400 daily of nutritious foods pb and j on whole wheat bread, apples, whole wheat cereal, bananas, low fat chees, yogurt etc .....I also started working out. I do the following go on the elliptical at the 3rd or 4th level of resistance for 35 to 40 minutes and then speed walk for 10 to 20 minutes. I just started last week but I do this 3 to 4 times a week. Is this a healthy way to lose weight? Someone said I should run instead by I ran long distance a lot when i was younger and now my knees hurt if I run for an extended period of time.

Everywhere online says running burns more calories than ellipticals, but my treadmill/elliptical say otherwise?
after a 30 minute workout, my treadmill says I burn 450 calories. In 30 minutes my Elliptical says I burn 750.Are these THAT far off? or can you burn more on an elliptical than a treadmill?Thanks

do elliticals provide a better workout for less effort? should i stop using the treadmill and use and elliptical instead? do ellipticals burn alot of calories really fast? whats the differnce between when you go forward on an elliptical than when you go backwards? does going backwards work your lower body alot more? if i use an elliptical for an hour every day, with diet, how long will it be until i notice myself being more toned im 16. 5'6" , and weigh 135 ? bottom line? should i ditch the treadmill and use an elliptical?
